Here is a little information about next Tuesday’s class.
We often refer to our chakras in yoga: a Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’ and referring to spiritual energy centres on the body. There are seven main chakras from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra has both physical and non-physical connections and is connected to a gland in the endocrine system. The simplest way to imagine the chakras is to picture them as spinning vortexes along the spine. Each of the seven points has its own optimum frequency at which it vibrates, and attaining that optimum frequency is key to your health and happiness.
This coming Tuesday we will be focusing on exercises to help develop and strengthen the first “Root” chakra. Located at the base of the spine, this chakra is associated with the colour red and is connected to the element Earth. It is the area with our organs for elimination. It is also the foundation of everything in our lives, and good foundations are very important for all aspects of our lives: home, family, and finances. All our habits and fears are stored in this area, and sometimes we have to dig deep to clear these out, to live a life free of fear and addictions. As we start to clear the energy by clearing and balancing the chakra, we tend to find life flows more easily for us.
We will also be doing a nice simple meditation for deep relaxation, which is an easy one to learn, for you to use whenever you need it.
